The benefit concert to raise money and awareness for the Boone Planta Water Project will be held Tuesday April 13, 6:00pm at Stubb’s BBQ Restaurant in Downtown Austin.  The event is open to the public and the cost to attend is 10$ if tickets are purchased in advance or 12$ at the door. Music by the very popular and well known Sara Hickman, The Flyin’ A’s, The Jitterbug Vipers, Atomic Strawberry and C Dub Funk will be offered as well as a silent auction featuring many cool and exciting items! Vacation homes, art, golf for 4 from Lost Creek Country Club, many reataurant gift certificates, wake board lessons and more.  Food and drink can be purchased from Stubb’s at the event.

Money raised at the Boone Planta Water Project Benefit and Concert will be used to fund a complete fresh water system for the impoverished village of El Zapat in Honduras. Villagers now have to hike up to 4.5 miles to find water which often is dirty and tainted. In villages where fresh water is available school attendance raises from 40% to 90% and water related deaths from disease drop. 98% of these deaths occur in developing countries and 84% of deaths are children.

On May 20 Boone’s father and sister, friends and a team from Impact will travel to El Zapata in the northern part of Honduras  to dig the trenches needed for the pipeline that will bring the fresh water to the villagers. The water well will be built and named to honor Boone Planta, a sweet young man that was a light in the lives of many people and who’s life ended far too soon earlier this year. The water well will change the lives of the people of El Zapata for years to come as well as the volunteers that that build this. For more information you can visit the facebook page or website created for the projects.

The Hills of Lost Creek

Great Schools, Active Community, Scenic, Conveniently Located, Home to Lost Creek Country Club.

The Hills of Lost Creek neighborhood has all these qualities and more. The homes here were built primarily in the late 70′s and 80′s on roomy lots some offering beautiful canyon or Hill Country views. Buyers are drawn to this very popular neighborhood for many reasons, one being that it falls in the Eanes ISD which is routinely ranked one of the outstanding school systems in Texas, known for excellent academics and sports. Another is that it is located just off Loop 360 making it convenient to Downtown Austin and the Austin International Airport. Homes generally run in the $300,000 to $800,000 range.

Within the community is the Lost Creek Country Club which offers private memberships for Golf and Tennis which many residents take advantage of. The club has one of the best tennis programs in Austin and has wonderful childrens programs in the summer. You’ll also find residents enjoying Barton Creek and the greenbelt trails that run through the neighborhood, a unique and highly valued treasure.

You’re close to the Barton Creek Square Mall which is anchored by Nordstrom, Dillards, Macy’s and Pennys and many smaller boutique and specialty stores and cute shops and great places to eat along Bee Cave Rd. One of my favorite places to eat is Mary’s offering pizza, salads and sandwiches, and The Bountiful Cafe and Bakery. For more information on this great neighborhood please visit my website or feel free to give me a call, I look forward to talking with you!

lake_austin_estates_park_2912Living In Austin Lake Estates has some of the benefits of living in the country but the convenience of being only a short drive to Downtown Austin or the ABI Airport. It has a more lax HOA than many West Austin neighborhoods but doesn’t lack in community spirit as seen in the many festivals and gatherings it has, most centered at the beautiful lake side neighborhood park. Austin Lake Estates is located in the community off Cuernavaca Dr. which is west of Loop 360 off Bee Cave Rd. This streets at the northern most section of the neighborhood compose Austin Lake Estates.

Homes in Austin Lake Estates vary widely. You will find everything between beautiful homes that front Lake Austin all the way to small cottage homes a few blocks from the lake. It defineltly has a “bohemian” feel to the neighborhood but it all seems to come together to form a cohesive neighborhood. Early in the morning I can hear the roosters crow and I think what a unique community this is!

Many buyers are drawn to this neighborhood since students attend the highly acclaimed Eanes ISD known for it excellence in academics and sports making it a great value. It’s close to the new retail center, Hill Country Galleria at Bee Cave Rd and Hiway 71, which has major anchors, Dillards, Barnes and Nobles and Dick’s Sporting Goods as well as many smaller popular shops and boutiques. Dining options have improved greatly over the last few years and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find Zoot’s, El Arroyo, Mondolo’s Italian Market, The Iron Cactus, Waterloo Ice House, Blue Bamboo and many other cafe’s. However one of the best lunch places is right in your neighborhood. On Cuernavaca Dr is Vaca Java a cute little trailer eaterie that has excellent choices! Try It! or call me and let’s talk about your Real Estate needs, lunch is on me!

Austin Sweet Austin

Posted by: Shelley Tucci | Comments (0)

Austin has always been one of my favorite cities for good food with a great variety of Homestyle, BBQ, Mexican, Italian and even Asian to a degree but now I think even the desserts rule! Having a sweet tooth I am drawn to bakeries, sno cone vendors and anywhere they sell ice cream and I’ve sampled widely of the “sweeteries” (my new term) in Austin! I’d like to share a few of my favorites with you. Categories, cookies, gelato and cupcakes.

Sugar Mama’s Bake Shop on South 1st in South Austin has out of this world cupcakes! When I married this summer I had them do cupcakes for my wedding and they were fabulously moist and tasty without being too sweet. The menu includes daily standards and others on a rotating basis all baked fresh each day. My favorite? The HULA, a coconut cupcake topped with a coconut cream cheese frosting and tosted coconut, yummmm. They also sell cakes, cookies and a new addition to the menu, pies.

Next is the Cookie Lounge on Rio Grande in the UT area. I’m so glad this is not anywhere close to where I live or work and that I have to make an effort to get there because I’m pretty sure I’d be in BIG trouble since I have no restraint! They have several cookie doughs that you can then mix in your choice of add ins, nuts, choc chips, candies, dried fruit and then they can bake one or any number to your specific order while you wait. Several times I’ve given gift certificates to the Cookie Lounge because I think it’s a great presentation and fun place to go for a treat!

And not least on my list is gelato. Now I’m a fan of icecream and snow cones (hello Amy’s on 5th and sno-beach) but I’ve recently found, after many tries, my favorite gelato and it’s at…Whole Foods on Lamar! The pistachio and peppermint are both better than any icecream of the same flavor I’ve ever had and many other flavors I’m eager to try!

So if you find yourself looking for a sweet try one of these Austin sweeteries soon and let me know what you think, or send me one of your favorites! ENJOY!

Tucked away from busy streets and traffic you’ll find Treemont, a beautiful West Austin neighborhood composed of executive styled homes, condos and villas on lovely treed lots. This upscale community in the Westlake area is included in the Eanes School District known for it’s excellence in education throughout Texas, making it a great place for families to live and enjoy. I like Treemont because if the quiet elegance it exudes.

Treemont is conveniently located off Bee Caves Rd., just west of Mopac (Loop 1) making quick access to all parts of Austin and to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Close to the many boutiques and restaurants in Westlake, Zilker Park and LadyBird Johnson Lake you can easily say Treemont is a hidden treasure.

Magnificent Seven Oaks

Recently I attended a house concert at a home in Seven Oaks and was once again blown away by the architecture of these stunning homes on estate size lots. Just driving into this community on it’s winding roads and sweeping Hill Country views I felt transported to a more relaxed lifestyle. Homes are built on lots of 1-6 acres offering privacy and for many, those sweeping views I mentioned. The attention to detail can be seen in the use of hardwoods, stone, ironwork, travertine, granite, tile and marble throughout the homes giving them a resort feel. My personal favorites are the courtyards, or maybe the verandas that offer outdoor fireplaces and kitchens all looking out at the infinity edge pools and casitas! Children attend the Eanes ISD know for it’s excellence in academia and sports. In Seven Oaks you’re just minutes from shopping at the Hill Country Galleria and Theaters, Lake Austin and Lake Travis, music venues and 25 minutes to Downtown Austin or ABIA.

If this lifestyle appeals to you and you’d like to hear more contact me, I’d love to help you!
